Mosaic Hikes Tallulah Gorge for Water Release & Viewing

This hike is limited to 5 people and experienced hikers only.
For the first time, the public will be able to take a ranger-led hike
down Sliding Rock Trail to view kayakers braving Bridal Veil Falls at
Tallulah Gorge State Park.
This is an extremely strenuous hike consisting of descending and
ascending a 750-foot boulder field to the Class V Tallulah River.
The water flow will be increased to 700 CFS, which means it's a lotta
water and a lotta fun if you're an experienced kayaker running the
river. We've gone down to the sliding rock before, but you won't be
able to see the rock because of the water level.
The ranger will lead us to a great place to watch the kayakers close
up on a ledge overlooking the falls and also talk about the history
of the area.
This hike is limited to 5 people and experienced hikers only. If
you're planning on going, please RSVP to Tom as soon as possible
since there are only 5 spaces reserved for us.
ABILITY LEVEL: Extremely strenuous. This is a short rock scrambling
hike down the boulder field. The elevation change is the most
strenuous of short trails in Georgia, 100 feet of elevation change
for every 0.1 mile. Again, for experienced hikers only.
MEETING TIME: 9:00 AM.
Be prompt since our scheduled trip with the Ranger leaves at 11:00AM.
DEPART TIME: 9:15 AM sharp
MEET: Indian Trail Park & Ride, Exit 101 on 85N
Take a left at the exit onto Indian Trail, go over 85 and take
a right at the light for the Park and Ride lot and look for the group.
BRING: Hiking boots are required or you can't go, water, lunch,
sunscreen, camera, gloves for the rock scrambling.
DOGS: No.
COST: Free for members; $5 for nonmembers or join for $25/year.
There's a $4 fee for parking if you don't have a Georgia State Park
pass. Please reimburse the driver accordingly for gas.
