Yom Kippur Begins Tonight

Friday, September 17, 2010

Yom Kippur 5771 begins tonight at sundown.

For a basic intro to the holiday, please see the Judaism 101 page:
http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday4.htm

Yom Kippur is a major fast day, meaning no food or drink for
about a 25 hour period.

Attending services at MANY shuls will require a TICKET
for KOL NIDREI Thursday evening and the morning/day service.
The afternoon/mincha and ne-ilah and closing services
will be not as well-attended, so open seating should be available.

After Yom Kippur comes Sukkot on the 15th of Tishrei, the eve of
Wednesday, September 22nd. Sukkot is 7 days, followed immediately by
Shemini Atzeret and Simhat Torah.
